I keep trying to install it but no matter what nothing happens. I've tried restarting and turning my computer off and on but it doesn't fix anything. I haven't had this problem with any other computers i've had and i don't understand why it won't work.

You can try these steps to troubleshoot the issue. Method 1: Disable the Proxy Settings. If this is the first time, you are trying to install Java on your Windows 10 computer, then follow these steps to disable the proxy settings.
After disabling the proxy settings, try downloading and installing Java and check if that help. Method 2: Temporarily disable the third party security program If you have installed any. If you have installed a third party security program, then I request you to contact its technical support to temporarily disable the program and then try downloading and installing Java and check the issue.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
If you are using the online Java installer, then I would suggest you to try the offline installer package and check if that works. Often the offline package will install successfully while the online installer package encounters a problem. Method 3: Try Offline Installation of Java. I would suggest you to download the offline installer package from the given link and then install it successfully. Here's a picture showing it in Windows 7 click to enlarge , but 8 should be mostly identical in this case.
I stumbled onto this question trying to resolve it myself. I only play minecraft every few months or so and things change rapidly these days. I found the real answer on my own and posted it here. The problem is that the "answers" here don't actually answer the question. First, I am a Java developer and an Android developer. I know, without a doubt, that my Java is properly configured and that there is nothing wrong with my path. The Minecraft Launcher was even able to successfully identify the Java on my system:.
I knew something other than the launcher was looking for Java elsewhere. It turns out, my "profile" was pointing to a specific Java version because I'd overridden the memory settings in a previous play session. To fix this problem, simply edit your profile or create a new one. If you choose edit, at the bottom of the screen is a selection for the Java executable see screen shots.
The simplest solution is to create a new profile. You said a new version of java was installed. If there is a folder called jre8 , the problem may be some outdated reference to the old jre7 folder. Minecraft won't run after updating Java? Ask Question. Asked 7 years, 6 months ago. Active 7 years, 1 month ago. Viewed 77k times. My mother downloaded the newest version of java and now it wont run. Improve this question. We are human as well, we don't look at error reports and just see the problem.
Please edit your post and give more information. Caleb - Seems like Minecraft can't find Java. Also: Error reports are supposed to be human-readable, otherwise who would read them? Caleb - What "more information" do you wish him to provide? An error report is probably the most detailed way to explain an error, despite being hard to read.
The fact that your so-called "humans" cannot read it is the reason why a question like this is being posted, and it is our job to answer it. Robotnik, No it can find Java otherwise you wouldn't have got as far as a Java stacktrace , but it can't find some file or other. When in doubt, delete.
